Arquitectura Viva 259: Tras el terror

In the wake of 7 October 2023, the history of Israel and Palestine was forever altered. The geopolitical segregation also spills over into architecture, as Arab and Israeli architects and critics remain reluctant to contribute to a joint coverage of the entire region. Here, a single example from each side is examined: the Edmond and Lily Safra Centre for Brain Sciences by Norman Foster in Jerusalem, and the Palestinian National Museum by Heneghan Peng in the West Bank town of Birzeit. With an eye to the future and respect for the past, each embodies mutual and indispensable values, showing how both sides can communicate in the common language of architecture.
